OK, so we’ve got this “love thy neighbor” thing down. It won’t ever be mastered, but we get it. But what about the two other characters in the Greatest Commandments – God, and me?

Jesus answered, “The most important [command] is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second [command] is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:29-31 ESV

Wrapped around Christ’s command to love our neighbor is the foremost command to love God wholeheartedly, and then there’s that cryptic “as yourself” statement. If we’re going to get this Christian life right, we need to know who God is and how he made us. Only then can we live “as above, so below” – fully partnered with God to bring the kingdom of heaven down to our little blue planet, one neighbor at a time.

Would you like to join me in discovering how to love in the likeness of God? Ideas I’ve studied, researched, and taught for the past 12 years are shaping into a new book that’s keeping me awake at night. What if I could wrap my little brain around the Trinity? What does it mean to love God and others with all my heart, soul, and strength? What would my neighborhood look like if I looked like more Jesus? God’s word gives us answers, my friend, and they are exciting!
