Fruit Requires Fertilizer

Having a šŸ’© week?

Hereā€™s hope. Jesus told a parable in Luke 13 about a fruit tree with no fruit. The owner toldĀ  his gardener to cut it down, itā€™s wasting space, but the gardener asked to give it one more chance. ā€œLet me dig around it and put some manure on it and see what happens.ā€

If youā€™re in a season that feels like everything you hold dear has been dug up, pulled out, and pruned off – then topped with a steaming shovel full of manureĀ  – thereā€™s fruit in that.

Grow deep, friend, and donā€™t give up.
Your Gardener is near.

The Parable of the Barren Fig* Tree

And he told this parable: ā€œA man hadĀ a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ā€˜Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none.Ā Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?ā€™ And he answered him, ā€˜Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.ā€™ā€ Luke 13:6-9

* I know the featured image and the graphic are lemons, not figs, but I took the photo of a lemon arbor in Sorrento, Italy – and there are no fig emojis šŸ˜‰
