Every time I invite my neighbors over for coffee, I make a new mistake.
Sometimes I wait too long to send the invitation, sometimes I send it too early. I forget to tell them when we’re getting together again. I forget my neighbors’ names. I don’t have enough food, or I get so distracted that I don’t enjoy my guests. I forget to follow up with a hurting friend, or I’m lax about thanking someone for their delicious treat or a delightful comment.
Every time I invite my neighbors over for coffee, I learn something new.
Every mistake
I have made
is in this box.
And so is everything
I have learned.
The Neighborhood Cafe Kit has everything you need to avoid my mistakes, plus tools you can use to replicate what has worked. It’s flexible, full of ideas you can adapt to your unique personality and the needs of your community.
New & Improved
Several new pieces have been added to the Cafe Kit – it’s better than ever!
- Instruction Book “The Neighborhood Cafe: A Whole New Way to Love Your Neighbors Without Being Weird” explains how the first Neighborhood Cafe began, and how you can begin one, too. It explains how to use resources in your Neighborhood Café Kit so you can use these tools to touch into your neighbor’s lives. Each chapter concludes with “A Second Cup,” interactive questions that will get you thinking about your own neighborhood.
- Macchiato Moments music CD Combining the pure worship of church with the cool vibe of a coffee-shop, Lisa Troyer and Dawn Yoder’s melodies are catchy and comforting.
- Espresso Mini-Magazine Written exclusively for the Neighborhood Café, this introductory Bible study curriculum smoothly guides your Guests’ conversations for six different Café sessions. Espresso opens easily with light getting-to-know-you conversation starters and naturally progresses to deeper discussions about faith and friendship. There are 12 full-color copies of this 8-page devotional in each Kit.
- Planning Guide, Invitations and Reminder Cards have been updated and refreshed! Free printable resources have been added to our Freebies page.
It’s not about the box
Each Cafe Kit contains 114 pieces in an adorable keepsake box. But it’s not about the box.
The Neighborhood Cafe Kit is about the neighbors you will meet when you place invitation in their hand. It is about the soul you will soothe when you send a “Thinking of You” card. It’s about the smile you bring because you remembered a name written in your Planning Guide, and the new friend you make because there was a Reminder Card hanging on your neighbor’s refrigerator.
This little investment into your neighborhood is designed to sit perkily on your kitchen counter, taunting you and bugging you until you finally open it up, pray it through and act on it.
It comes with connection to other Cafe Hostesses who share your passions and prayers. It comes with a guarantee that God will go with you into your neighborhood. It comes with the promise of new friendships over mended picket fences.
It’s not about the box, but you can get your box here today.

I was reading the Hostess Covenant and looking up the verses referenced and I am wondering if Philemon 1:27b, 30 is a typo. My bible only goes to Philemon 25 and when I looked online, could not find any reference to that verse anywhere.
Jeanne, you are RIGHT! The reference should be Philippians 1:27b, 30. I’ve made the change on the website and you can find the corrected version here: http://www.theneighborhoodcafe.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Cafe-Hostess-Covenant.pdf.
I’m sorry about the typo but I’m SO glad you’re reading through the Covenant! That particular point about keeping in touch with me is so important. If someone starts a Neighborhood Cafe and doesn’t tell me, they miss out on the fellowship and support we offer.
